Ive been a stay-at-home-mom for nearly 8 years. I have relaxed only a handful of times since. That may be an exaggeration, but not by much.
It has been my personal goal, and New Years Resolution, for the past 2-3 years to relax more and take care of myself. Im nearly there!
Always on a tight budget and with a husband that works long hours I constantly find myself on my feet working around the house, doing everything, maintaining all and even making money on the side. This is the life I choose and its worth it, but I still need to learn to relax a bit more, for my mental and physical health!
my 4 year old chose a cup of Cheerios and a cup of almond milk for dinner! |
I recently decided on, with help from my oldest, that we should start a 'Whatever Wednesday'. On this special day we get to do, literally, whatever we want. TV and iPad? Yes! Mommy drinks wine? Yes! Dinner? whatever, I dont care! :D
Since we have a healthy and balanced, made-from-scratch-dinner-at-the-dining-room-table every night, the kids are thrilled to have control and freedom one night a week. The hubby, not so much, but he will survive.
This new plan creates some magnificent bonuses:
1) builds tradition
2) children get decision making power & confidence
3) family learns more about being happy and care-free
3) family learns more about being happy and care-free
4) husband learns he cant live without me ;)
5) budget friendly night: sandwiches and cereal are cheap!
6) mommy gets a flipping' break! yay!
Whatever Wednesday works for us in so many wonderful ways, we plan on incorporating this into our routine as long as we can!
Do you have any family oriented traditions that also save money?
