No-Spend update: $189 spent

Our Pantry Challange is going great!  Surprised?   Yes, I have spent $189 so far on groceries and we are only on DAY 9!!!   If this continues we will be....  actually, way ahead of the game!

My pantry challange is more relaxed than it used to be, my kids eat SO. MUCH. MORE. and feeding our pets is not something that can wait, and I buy them quality food which is not super cheap...

PLUS, a few pricy things we cannot 'live' without, such a coconut oil and stevia somehow ALL ran out at the same time this week!  Of course they did!  Chickens eat a LOT of food too...  little stinkers!

So, where did i spend all this money?  Heres where....

It started on the 1st of the month...  I ran to the Commissary for some produce and much needed items to get us through.  I have found they carry a gluten free pasta there at a steal..  not as great as the organic lentil kind i prefer, but only $1.50 whereas the good stuff is about $4!  Huge savings!  While there i was thrilled to find some clearance chicken breast at $1.04lb, so i bought 10lbs! I didnt ‘need’ it right now but that savings will roll into next month, saves TONS in the long run.  I got cheese there as well, great deal with a coupon!  Came home and made 8 dinners with the chicken and popped it in the freezer.  $40 spent

$1.50 at the Commissary!

Five Dollar Friday will now be a frequent for me, Safeways great way of offering some fantastic bargains! Plus im so excited to go there for freebies now!  I posted my shopping trip just a few days ago.  total spent: $12

On Sunday i realized we were out of chicken food and our Farm Store was closed...  bought a bag of lessor quality food at Walmart for $9 just to buy me a few days :) You wouldnt think free-range chickens wouldn't eat so much!!  total: $9

Costco is the best place to buy most produce, dogfood, tortilla chips, greek yogurt (store brand) and frozen veggies! ALL of which we were out of!  I also grabbed the huge case of corn dogs, hubby and the kids adore those for weekend lunches, on sale right now for $6, wow!  Total spent $80

organic coconut oil at Grocery Outlet- cheapest EVER!!!

My last stop was Grocery Outlet, i only go there when i have time to really scour the shelves. Some great produce finds this time, a bag of SIX colorful peppers for only $3!!!  Pretty sure ive never paid lower in my life.  The bag of apples was $1.99 and tomatoes .99 for the bag!  I also found coconut oil on sale for 7.99...  this is even cheaper than Costco!  I found a bunch of smaller bargains we will use this month so grabbed those as well. total: $48

My total spent so far for the month on groceries is about $189.  Remember, we haven't spent any money eating out nor anywhere else!  I am really hopeful this can last us a couple weeks...  but I know it won't!  Lets see how far it can go, I'll share my recipes and journey along the way :)
