We believe in chores in our house. My children have a small list of 'daily tasks' they are responsible. My goal in life is to create happy, healthy and responsible little people who are also financially smart and secure.
For quite some time we have been trying to figure out a plan for our 'paid chores' and finally found something that works for us, without even spending a dime! In our house these chores can be done (optional) after all of your daily tasks have been completed; dressed, room cleaned, dishwasher unloaded, etc. THIS is the way to earn spending money!
All we used was some craft paper we had on hand, cardboard, tape and our printer for the label. So easy, fast and budget friendly!
Double sided tape made this a breeze! We then made envelopes with the paper and cut strips. Of course the kids were so excited to help with every part! These paper strips are fantastic because they can be changed as needed and I can add more without needing to alter a permanent board.
Simple paper strips list the chores, directions if needed, and the price value. Once a chore is done she simply will slip it into her envelope with the appropriate initial! I will pay out every couple days or as needed.
Many of my chores are brief and easy and only valued at 25 cents. The highest chore being $1, and that one was at the request of my daughter who thinks 'warsh mommys car' is only worth a buck. We will see how she feels about that when she remembers how much effort goes into car washing ;)
And, the final product! I finally taped some yard to the back to hang it on the wall for a more permanent place! The kids are now super excited to do these extra chores to earn money and I am SUPER excited to get such enthusiastic help!
