mending my own

I am pulling out the sewing machine today.

Husband needs a changeout on a uniform patch.  Most people take this in and take advantage of the affordable services offered by the military.  For under $10 they can replace the whole thing, well, he has to buy the new patch first anyway...

I also have a great sweater dress that i love, but the seam has come apart on the side.  I've had the dress for years, most people would just toss it and go buy a new $60 dress from a great discount store like TJMaxx. Nope. I'm gonna repair mine and wear it all season!

ouch!  big rip!
ahhh, much better!

My favorite purse is literally bursting at the seams, probably because I fill it to the max with supplies for my kiddos as well as 'normal' purse things- you know, like stainless steel water bottles and full size hard-backed books, yeah, its a 'mom bag' for sure...  i do love this brand, its affordable, the stylish-hippy-chic type that I so dearly love and at just $40-50 to buy a new one its pretty reasonable!  BUT I'm going to repair this one instead, I think you figured that out by now.

A little hard work on my part- PLUS getting to show my preschooler how fun and easy it is to use a sewing machine I save my family about $120 today!

Do you have a sewing machine?  and do you use it?
