3 easy ingredients! |
This is a great recipe I throw together from time to time. Quick, safe, effective and frugal- plus it smells awesome :)
Im into re-using containers so always save my empty parmesan shakers, those lids are the best! Being plastic is actually an added bonus in my house- I have young children who love to help and like to drop things as well. This would also work fantastic in a canning jar if you prefer glass!
Baking Soda is amazing for cleaning, a gently yet effective scouring powder and natural deodorizer because it absorbs the icky smells we don't want around.
Borax is a superb natural ingredient you can find in your laundry detergent isle. Affordable and efficient, it is a stain remover and odor neutralizer.
Essential Oils, always amazing and they pack a punch! I use tea tree in the recipe due to its germ killing, sanitizing qualities. I toss in a little orange essential oil as well to give it a fresh, citrusy boost..... I used 10 drops of each because I like it strong. ......should I really be in a wonderful fresh and citrusy aroma heaven while scrubbing my toilets? I will assume the answer is yes.
whisk it. whisk it real good. |
To make this awesome powder to scrub and scour through hard water deposits, soap scum and dirt simply toss your powders into a bowl, add the essential oils and whisk really well. Using glass and stainless steel in this recipe is important as the oils can AND WILL deteriorate plastics .......but what about my plastic shaker you ask... after the oils are dispersed enough they won't be as detrimental to plastic, it may shorten the life of my reused parmesan shaker but that is okay with me- they still last years through this recipe!
1 cup Baking Soda
1 cup Borax
10-20 drops essential oils
It is super easy to use this stuff, just sprinkle in area to be cleaned and scrub it around. Let this good stuff sit for at least 30 minutes to let the borax do its magic and help to remove any stains from your surfaces! Enjoy the beneficial aroma of essential oils, breath in deep and know that you are awesome!
