Here is what i got and why I consider this a frugal splurge....
Five wonderful samples and a $10 gift card to The Gap! WOW! I bet I can find a cute scarf for myself there.... hmmmm..... clearance sales here i come!
I am really liking this Essentiel Element shower gel. The Rosemary essential oil is really strong and powerful- what a perfect morning treat this will be! The husband might try to fight me for this one... but I will win ;) Value, roughly $4
The beautiful Vasanti Kajal rose-gold eyeliner was something I actually got to hand-select. I love it when they do that! I knew this color would make me looks cheery and awake- it surely does! Beautiful! And its mostly water-proof- all day wear and no smudging! Is mine a full-sized sample? I have no idea, it looks like it to me! If so the value on this one is $18!
The amika Sea Buckthorn Berry Nourishing hair mask smells phenomenal. I've heard wonderful things about this brand and I can't wait to use it- I imagine I will just use it like a normal conditioner! :) This one I will hoard for myself. sample valued at $3
Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream. This is a tiny little tube from Japan. Cute and interesting! Small sample but this stuff really packs a punch! Has a menthol like scent- this might end up in hubbys stocking, he would love it! sample value about $2
Finally, we have our dry shampoo by Klorane, a French brand. Much more natural than I would have imagined, this stuff is made with mainly rice starch, oats, alcohol and stuff like that! The smell is clean and a little powdery. Trying it out on my preschooler- it does appear to make her hair bouncier, can't wait to try it on myself on days I don't wash my hair! This will also be perfect for my 1st grader who tends to have greasier hair. Great travel sized bottle valued at about $6.50
Total value of my December Birchbox is roughly $43.50 and I only paid $5 for it!
How???
I paid $10 for it out of pocket. I will be reviewing all 5 products on their site (fast and easy) so I will earn 10 points for EACH review to equal a total of $5 CREDIT on Birchbox toward things we need to buy anyway like toothpaste or cleaning products (or splurges on myself- SHHHH).
SO, its really as if I only paid $5 toward this box!! That alone is worthy splurge for me! With a limited amount of personal spending money per month, I think $5 for my monthly Birchbox is way more than smart, frugal AND it makes the whole family happy!!! (since sometimes I even share my stuff with them)
IF you ever want to consider subscribing to Birchbox for yourself, I would be thrilled if you would use my link HERE, I earn points toward product credit for every friend I refer! and then you can do the same to :D
